You will be astounded by these facts of life embedded in the construction industry. Throughout my decade long experience in construction, I’ve learned some things that can be applied across the board. Granted, most people within the trades, foremen have 20+ experience and such of that sort. However, this knowledge has been sourced from my experience and wisdom from some of those men who have 20-50 years of experience.
Without further due, I present 5 life challenging wisdom learned from successfully completing projects in Construction.
- Using the right tool for the job
- Doing things the right way saves time and money
- Communication is key
- The integrity of the foundation dictates how long it’ll last
- Measure twice, cut once.
The first principle is the most life changing one in my opinion. It teaches you how to select the right approach to situations and problems. This captivating wisdom can be learned from an example and analogy involving a screw and 2 types of screwdrivers. Let’s say you have to flush screws in drywall and you don’t have a drill. You have a flathead and a Phillips screwdriver. The screw is in the shape of a “+” indicating that a Phillips screwdriver.
